A conversation about fabric should include the yarn.
A finished garment takes shape long before sewing begins. Yarn and knit structure provide a starting point for discussing appearance, feel and finishing. That is why “cotton fabric” alone is not yet a complete specification for an order.
Use a sample to explain the result
Bring a garment you like or a physical fabric reference. Describe composition, surface, desired softness and shape separately. Comparing samples in one colour can make material differences easier to notice. Request a physical sample before making the final choice instead of relying only on a photograph.
Keep the approved reference and give it a date or internal code. It can serve as a shared comparison point when discussing another fabric batch or a repeat order.
